ACRE Africa, in collaboration with ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance) and the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation (GCAF), has signed a strategic partnership, strengthening the relationship and commitment to building a more resilient and inclusive agricultural future for Africa.
The renewed partnership combines investment capital, reinsurance capacity, and digital risk-management expertise to accelerate financial inclusion and sustainable agricultural growth for 10 million farmers by 2030. The collaboration will enhance access to affordable credit and climate-risk insurance, empower farmers to invest in productivity, and promote the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices.
As part of the Crédit Agricole Group, one of Europe’s largest banking institutions and the world’s leading financier of agriculture, serving over 50 million customers in 47 countries, the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation brings a wealth of global experience in financial inclusion, rural development, and sustainable agriculture. Through this partnership, the Foundation channels its expertise into practical, high-impact initiatives that improve the livelihoods of farming communities across emerging markets.

Vincent Brousseau, Deputy General Manager of GCAF
“At Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation, we believe that unlocking access to finance is a powerful catalyst for rural transformation. Through this collaboration with ZEP-RE and ACRE Africa, we are bringing the full strength of the Crédit Agricole Group: The technical expertise, capital, and a global network with financial and microfinance institutions, to support climate-smart solutions for smallholder farmers. Our shared ambition is to scale impact, build resilience, and ensure that millions of farmers can access the financial tools they need to thrive”
Hope Murera, Managing Director and CEO of ZEP-RE
“As a COMESA institution, ZEP-RE has a mandate to strengthen Africa’s insurance and reinsurance capacity. And that this partnership is about more than insurance; it’s about building regional resilience systems that protect farmers and value chains against climate shocks. Together with GCAF and ACRE Africa, we aim to unlock new instruments and innovations that make climate risk financing accessible and sustainable across the continent.”
Building on these regional and global commitments, the collaboration will also accelerate the last-mile delivery of insurance and advisory solutions that directly serve farmers at scale. With digital innovation at its core, ACRE Africa will lead the design and deployment of tools that bring risk protection and financial access closer to rural communities.

Ewan Wheeler, CEO ACRE Africa
“ACRE Africa is proud to be at the frontlines of climate resilience, designing and deploying digital insurance and advisory solutions that work for smallholder farmers. This partnership allows us to scale our platforms like DigiBima and TARA, combining global expertise, regional leadership, and local innovation to make agricultural finance more inclusive, resilient, and future-ready.”
