Agriculture and Climate Risk Enterprise Ltd (ACRE Africa), a subsidiary of ZEP-RE, is a for-profit social enterprise and designer of risk management solutions for farmers with operations in Africa since 2009. Agriculture and Climate Risk Enterprise Ltd. (ACRE Africa) is a risk management solutions designer linking stakeholders to localized solutions such as insurance and climate change adaptation strategies to reduce agricultural and climate risks.

ACRE Africa operates as a licensed insurance intermediary supporting local insurers to offer agricultural insurance across value chains with offices present in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia and projects in Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Senegal, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Somali. As a for-profit social business company pursuing financial sustainability and social impact, ACRE endeavours to work sustainably through its partnerships to continuously bridge this protection gap for farmers in Africa.

JOB PURPOSE

The Principal Fundraising Officer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure resources that drive ACRE Africa’s mission. This role will focus on identifying and cultivating new funding opportunities, managing donor relationships, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability through strategic partnerships. The position requires a proactive approach to proposal development, donor engagement, and grant acquisition, aligned with the organization’s growth objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Fundraising Strategy and Execution:
i. Develop and implement a results-driven fundraising strategy to meet annual revenue targets.
ii. Align fundraising initiatives with ACRE Africa’s priorities and donor expectations.
iii. Identify and capitalize on emerging funding opportunities, including grants, advisory services, and corporate partnerships

2. Funding opportunities:
i. Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, ensuring high donor retention rates.
ii. Develop and oversee donor stewardship programs to enhance engagement and long-term commitment.
iii. Lead donor communication efforts, including impact reporting, events, and strategic outreach.

3. Proposal Development & Grant Management
i. Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals aligned with the organization’s mission and funding requirements.
ii. Maintain accurate records of grant applications, donor commitments, and reporting requirements.
iii. Analyze funding data and generate reports to support strategic decision-making

4. Collaboration & Leadership
i. Work closely with the marketing and communications team to develop fundraising materials and campaigns.
ii. Support the advisory and grants team in implementing funded projects and assignments.
iii. Engage senior leadership and the board in fundraising strategy and execution

5. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
i. Track and analyze fundraising performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
ii. Provide regular reports on fundraising activities, donor engagement, and revenue generation.
iii. Ensure compliance with financial and donor reporting requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

i. Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Development Studies, Climate Finance, Agricultural Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
ii. Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, resource mobilization, and donor relations, particularly in agriculture, climate resilience, and inclusive finance.
iii. Proven track record of securing funding from global and regional donors and achieving fundraising targets.
iv. Strong knowledge of agricultural finance, risk management strategies, and donor landscapes.
