ACRE Africa is a risk management solutions designer linking stakeholders to localized solutions such as insurance and climate change adaptation strategies to reduce agricultural and climate risks. ACRE Africa operates as a licensed insurance intermediary supporting local insurers to offer agricultural insurance across value chains with offices in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia and projects in Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Senegal, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Somalia. JOB PURPOSE
The Head of Data and Analytics will lead the development and execution of data-driven strategies to enhance agricultural insurance products and analytical services. This role focuses on leveraging advanced analytics, technology, and innovation to align products with the needs of farmers and stakeholders while optimizing operational efficiency and customer experience. |
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership
- Drive the strategy and execution of data analytics initiatives to support agricultural insurance product development and agricultural insights.
- Identify and integrate emerging trends and technologies into product design to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Foster a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
2. Product Development and Optimization
- Lead the design, testing, and validation of products, ensuring alignment with farmers’ needs and industry requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed data insights and innovation into the product development lifecycle.
- Utilize advanced analytics techniques, such as predictive modelling and machine learning, to evaluate and enhance product performance.
3. Data Management and Analysis
- Oversee data collection, management, and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable insights for product innovation.
- Use programming tools like Python, R, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to analyze datasets and spatial data for improved risk modelling and pricing strategies.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards in all analytics processes.
- Work with stakeholders to develop tailored solutions, incorporating feedback to refine products and services.
5. Performance Monitoring
- Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of products and analytics-driven initiatives.
- Conduct data-driven assessments to identify gaps in offerings and opportunities for new features or services.
6. Collaboration and Support to Other Functions
- Work with the Advisory and Project teams on key assignments to ensure that actuarial, data, and analytical elements are included in the proposals and implementation of these projects.
- Work with the Digital team to ensure the analytical functions are distributed and available to farmers and other agricultural value chain stakeholders through ACRE digital tools.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Agriculture, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in data analytics, product development, or related roles, preferably within the agriculture or insurance sectors.
- Proficiency in Python, R, and GIS software, with predictive analytics and machine learning expertise.
- Strong understanding of agricultural markets, insurance products, and the needs of farmers and stakeholders
